Melodic clawhammer historically requires complex, non-linear, counter-intuitive shapes to work around the limitations of the clawhammer stroke, but I’ve found a way to make the process easier and more improvisatory. In this workshop series you’ll learn a melodic clawhammer arrangement in each of the main old time keys: C, D, G, and A, as well as techniques and concepts that will help you build your own.

Workshops will take place online on Wednesdays 3/12, 3/19, 4/2, and 4/9 from 5:30-6:45pm Pacific via Discord (it’s not that different from Zoom, I promise, and it’s better for keeping track of workshop materials). After signing up, registrants will get a downloadable .html file (openable in your internet browser) with a link to instructions. The download link expires 24 hours after purchase so I recommend downloading it right away. Workshops will be recorded and posted in the Discord server.

Everyone is welcome to attend this workshop, but the material will be advanced. Participants will have an easier time keeping up if they are comfortable playing hammer-ons, pull-offs, drop-thumbing, and slides.
